Your Job:
As a key member of the Corporate Relations team attached to the Office of the CEO, the Corporate Public Relations (PR) Lead is responsible for developing and implementing PR strategy, plans, and programming that establish Brooks and its executive team as leaders and visionaries in business performance, innovation, and culture in the minds of media, those in the run industry, runners, our owners, and beyond. In your role you will develop and drive the brand’s run business narrative and manage media outreach and other PR initiatives including regular reporting on business and brand goals/performance, executive platforms, signature story development, and speaking engagements. You will serve as a key contact for teams across Brooks relative to protecting Brooks’ reputation and proactively leverage their work via earned media to drive the brand’s business objectives and increase awareness and affinity for Brooks. The Corporate PR Lead will work closely with the Brand/Consumer PR team to create, align, and leverage global PR frames, plans, strategies, and calendars.
Your Responsibilities:
- Develop and lead the implementation of the run business pillar portion of the annual Brooks PR plan to increase the visibility of Brooks’ business and leadership success. Plan development includes outlining specific tactics that support Brooks’ business objectives and strategic priorities and creating metrics to track impact.
- In partnership with the Chief of Staff, Corporate Relations, develop Brooks’ business leadership narrative and execute media strategies and events to share it externally. Secure and support earned media and thought leadership opportunities for key Brooks executive spokespersons. Develop positioning/talking points and ensure key message pull-through in coverage.
- Lead strategy and execution for all executive press tours/events, which includes development of event strategy, briefing in all partners, driving the overall direction, managing on-ground programming, preparing executives for interviews, material development, etc.
- Work collaboratively with the Global Marketing team to develop cohesive global plans and frameworks and serve as a liaison to EMEA and APLA counterparts to create synergies for storytelling and timing of external events/efforts with executive involvement.
- Manage work focus and execution of corporate relations experts at Brooks’ PR agency of record. Lead weekly agency calls with the agency’s corporate team and advise on questions around strategic direction and programming.
- Build and maintain relationships with key business media, freelancers, and other influencers, serving as a trusted contact for stories related to leadership strategy, workplace culture, the running category/business, and of course Brooks. Partner with key stakeholders to address, navigate, and manage any crisis communication to sustain/protect the image of our brand and/or executives and foster positive public perception.
- Write regular press releases/updates on Brooks’ business and brand performance. Partner with stakeholders across the organization to gather the information and insight required and package into a compelling narrative written with a sophisticated business writing style.
- Manage and support issues and crisis communications to ensure our culture and values are reflected to external stakeholders while addressing the issue at hand.
- Work under pressure on highly visible (and sometimes sensitive) communications and projects. Exercise discretion and sound judgement.
- Demonstrate strong business acumen and ability to manage up when needed to ensure assigned projects are on track and moving forward.
- Support and contribute to a culture of inclusion, appreciation, and recognition for employee work and behaviors that exemplify and reinforce brand values.
Qualifications:
- BA or BS degree in Communications or Marketing.
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in the field of Public Relations with exposure to corporate communications strategy and execution.
- 3+ years of experience working with those in executive or leadership roles, particularly in global an organization(s) scaling for growth in a competitive field.
- Proven ability to develop and execute strategic communications strategies and plans that meet or exceed stated goals.
- 2+ years lead/management experience preferred.
- Adept at building and maintaining relationships with key media.
- Interact effectively and professionally with executives and organizational leadership.
- Ability to work across the organization to gather consensus and develop integrated programs.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral; must be extremely detail oriented.
- Must possess the ability to execute a wide variety of tasks and work in a fast-paced, team environment.
- A passion for the running enthusiast and active lifestyle and ability to infuse knowledge through storytelling efforts and interactions with media.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work autonomously as well as with cross-collaborative teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Microsoft Teams.
Compensation: The pay range for this position, based out of the Brooks Seattle HQ, is $108,403 - $162,604 Top per year. Base pay offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
