Position: Senior Staff Accountant

Department: Finance

Work Location: Position is not remote.

Hybrid Schedule: Helen of Troy associates enjoy the advantages and flexibility of a hybrid working model, allowing for in office 3 days minimum, and remote 2 days. Any changes to this working model would be communicated accordingly.

What you will be doing:

Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Accounting, we are looking for an experienced, forward-thinking Senior Staff Accountant with proven abilities and achievements.

You will be responsible for various tasks related to payroll, month end close, general ledger review, account reconciliations, and other tasks as assigned in support of shared services. Prepare transactions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

  • Prepare payroll journal entries with supporting documents.

  • Prepare journal entries with supporting documents in support of monthly closing process.

  • Reconciliation of assigned balance sheet accounts including payroll.

  • Prepare different payroll-related reports.

  • Complete variance analysis.

  • Financial statements are free from material errors or misstatements.

  • Performs month-end close of sub-module for approximately 36 sub-systems.

  • Prepare intercompany agreement transactions.

  • Ensure variances are corrected in a timely manner.

  • Validation of the final numbers.

  • Prepares and maintains royalty income journals and reconciliations.

  • Assists with internal and external audit requirements.

  • Preparing requested schedules.

  • Complying with Sarbanes Oxley requirements.

  • Contributes to the annual operating budgeting process through analysis and review of annual operating budget proposal.

  • Assists with quarterly forecasts.

  • Prepares schedules, oversees work activities, and performs actual work similar to other employees, however, does not conduct performance appraisals, counsel employees, or have the authority to hire, fire, set pay rates, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in accounting

  • 3-5 years equivalent work experience.

  • Corporate accounting experience.

  • Proficient in Microsoft office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full time basis.

Strongly Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA.

  • 2 years of payroll accounting experience.

  • Consumer Product Good industry experience.

  • International publicly- traded accounting experience.

  • Multi-entity or intercompany experience.

  • Proficient in using Oracle Business Intelligence (Oracle Hyperion)
