Job Summary
Oregon State University Cascades is seeking a Chief Business Officer. This is a full-time 1.00 FTE, 12-month, professional faculty position.

The Chief Business Officer (CBO) at Oregon State University-Cascades has a critical role in steering the institution towards successful execution of the academic mission of the campus. The CBO will be a member of the senior leadership of the campus and work with the Chancellor and Dean and senior academic leaders on developing a strategic and financially sound business plan for delivering academic priorities. The role requires aligning operational and financial strategies with the university’s growth objectives; assessing and managing risks; and developing strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and alliances to deliver on the academic mission. This position involves making strategic decisions that not only align with OSU’s overall objectives for the campus but also guide the campus’s sustainability strategies.

The CBO will have operational oversight of all business operations of the campus, working closely with senior leaders in finance and operations, and will be the point-of-contact for major functions led from the Corvallis campus such as human resources and information technology. The CBO will be responsible for cultivating a culture of adaptability, trust, flexibility, and openness to change in the business and operations staff.

The ideal Chief Business Officer will have a more extensive skill set and experiences than just finance or operations. The successful CBO will possess strong financial knowledge alongside leadership experience that ranges from strategic planning to financial strategy to day-to-day operations. They should exhibit flexibility, integrity, and ethics in their decision-making processes and have a solid interdepartmental perspective that enables effective collaboration across functions. Their strategic thinking, project planning, negotiation, and communication skills are essential for developing and executing business plans that align with the academic strategy.
