Position Summary | This recruitment will be used to fill two (2) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) TRIO SSS Peer Mentor position for the Cascade campus at Oregon State University (OSU) located in Bend, Oregon. As a Peer Mentor, you will shadow existing peer mentors, attend TRIO events, and attend weekly staff meetings to successfully learn the skills needed to become a successful Peer Mentor. TRIO SSS Peer Mentors will support TRIO’s effort to facilitate a successful college transitional experience for the incoming SSS Summer Bridge cohort. Peer Mentors will be working with new SSS participants during the Summer Bridge Program, as well as the remainder of the academic year. SSS Peer Mentors will help create a welcoming environment and familiarize SSS participants with college life. They will help the incoming SSS cohort adapt socially and academically, as well as monitor any adjustment issues. Peer Mentors will help the new SSS participants navigate college life at Oregon State University – Cascades by providing the student with information about available resources on campus, orienting them to the expectations of an institution of higher education, and encouraging participation in all SSS activities and events. It is required that the TRIO SSS Peer Mentors participate in all SSS planned peer mentoring activities. Hiring will be based on need. We may not be actively looking for employees the entire time this posting is up, however, we encourage you to apply and you will be considered for the next available opening. |
