Position Summary | The OSU-Cascades Office of Admissions is seeking to hire an OSU-Cascades student part-time (minimum 10 hours per week, maximum of 24 hours per week) for a bilingual Spanish-speaking TOUR Ambassador position at Oregon State University – Cascades in Bend. OSU-Cascades TOUR Ambassadors are generally the first face-to-face contact with prospective students interested in attending OSU-Cascades. Our team is an energetic, motivated, collaborative group that strives to highlight all that our campus has to offer. TOUR Ambassadors work alongside the admissions staff and serve as a representative of the university in recruitment activities (both in-person and virtual) including campus visits, events and managing the Welcome Center. This is an excellent opportunity to share and enhance your school spirit with potential future Bend Beavs by representing and showcasing OSU-Cascades, providing insight from your own experience, build connections with prospective students and families, play a key role in the growth and expansion of OSU-Cascades and invest in the future of this campus. This position is located in Bend, Oregon. Starting wage for this position is $16.20. |
Position Duties | Collaborate and work with other students in a positive and professional team environment. Learn about the admission process alongside professional staff, growing your knowledge about your university and how we bring in new students. Sharpen skills in interpersonal communication, public speaking, professional development and more. Campus visits and events: process, schedule and conduct campus tours Monday through Friday. Campus tours include in-person tours (in both English and Spanish) with prospective students and families. Assist in a variety of other special projects, including: campus preview days, prospective student events and open houses. Assist admissions staff with recruiting efforts by presenting on student panels during high school visits and campus events. Responsible for operating the Welcome Center during business hours. Includes greeting guests and answering questions, assisting drop-in visitors, helping with organizational and office tasks and answering phones, emails and texts. Customer service and admissions: serve as a resource and liaison for campus services and programs. Responsible for answering phones, returning voicemails, forwarding calls and responding to text and email inquiries, all in a timely manner. Knowledgeable about OSU-Cascades programs and campus offerings and able to provide and communicate information to prospective students and visitors, especially pertaining to the admissions process. Welcome visitors and provide assistance in a respectful, courteous, inclusive and professional manner. |

Preferred (Special) Qualifications | Experience in cross-cultural communication with ability to engage Spanish speaking audiences through the utilization of bi-literate and bicultural skills Administrative, food/beverage, service or retail experience. Work-Study recipient. It is helpful to have completed or in the process of completing 1 or more academic terms at OSU-Cascades to gain familiarity in being a student within our campus environment. |
Working Conditions / Work Schedule | The hours for this position may include some evenings, weekends, breaks and summers. Employment is an average of 10 hours per week during the academic terms. |
