Position Summary
The OSU-Cascades Mail & ID Center in the Facilities & Operations Department is looking for multiple students to support mail room operations. This recruitment will be used to fill two (2) part-time positions (with a maximum of 24 hours per week) starting Sept 2023 at Oregon State University-Cascades in Bend, Oregon for academic year 2023-2024. The anticipated Hourly Rate is $15.95 for this position.
Position Duties
• Customer service
• Accurately track incoming and outgoing packages, sort mail, solve issues with packages or letters
• Print ID Cards for faculty, staff, and students and track replacement cards
• Provide customer support for mail room, ID center and campus work rooms including copiers
• Distribute mail to different buildings on campus
• Run mail though postage machine and track spending by departments
• Replenish supplies-including paper-and organize and tidy work rooms
• Monitor inventory in workrooms and copier and printer supplies around campus
• Organize storage areas and coordinate with the individuals who are responsible for items in storage
• Manage surplus furniture and equipment
• Communicate clearly in person, over the phone, and through email with OSU-Cascade faculty and staff and the public
• Other duties as assigned

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Preferred (Special) Qualifications
• Currently enrolled OSU-Cascades student in good academic standing
• Work availability between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. Very rare weekend work.
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
Work in the Mail & ID Center takes place in an office-like setting with laptop, computer and iPad use but will include: working at a kiosk, sitting, standing, walking and pushing/pulling a heavy cart to all the workrooms on campus in all weather, unloading and loading packages of all sizes to multi-level shelves, lifting up to 50 pounds, working in close proximity to others, answering phones, entering data, cleaning surfaces, answering phones, sending emails
