Position Summary

PeopleForBikes is hiring a part time staff Accountant. The selected candidate will manage general accounting and financial processes of both the PeopleForBikes Coalition and PeopleForBikes Foundation. This employee will be responsible for all daily accounting tasks and carry out relevant administrative duties. This position reports directly to our fractional team Controller and Chief Financial Officer team. We expect this role to be about 20-25 hours per week.


  • Assist in Full Cycle Accounting.
  • Maintain and update accurate accounting records and files for both the PeopleForBikes Coalition and PeopleForBikes Foundation, including general bookkeeping tasks.
  • Oversee expense report management of our 30+ person staff.
  • Post transactions and categorize records in the general ledgers.
  • Maintain relationships with key vendors and engage them to research discrepancies as needed.
  • Analyze transactions with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare documents for the annual external audit.
  • Manage payroll.
  • Work to improve financial processes.
  • Some human resource administration role shared with other staff for seamless onboarding processes that align with accounting functions.
  • Some electronic filing as needed.
  • Assist with other key accounting functions as needed.
  • Assist with financial audits.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • At least two years of experience in accounting.
  • Skilled in the use of standard office equipment and accounting, spreadsheet, database, CRM (Salesforce experience a plus), and Microsoft Suite software experience.
  • Prefer familiarity with QuickBooks and Bill.com accounting software.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with proven math and organizational skills.
  • Takes initiative and action and gets work done quickly.
  • Strong customer service ethic and willingness to go above and beyond to help PeopleForBikes’ stakeholders.
  • Ability to treat confidential information with appropriate discretion.
  • Ability to collaborate and work efficiently with multiple stakeholders and teams.
  • Strong work ethic, self-directed, able to work independently to accomplish assigned tasks and meet critical deadlines.
  • A commitment to safe, healthy, reliable, and affordable access to bicycling for all members of a community.
  • This role will require the use of a laptop for several hours.

Compensation and Benefits
This ongoing “at will” part-time employee position offers an hourly rate of approximately $35 - $45 per hour for approximately 20 to 25 hours/week (schedule is flexible). Benefits include prorated PTO and paid holidays based on actual hours worked. This position is not eligible for other benefits.

PeopleForBikes is based in beautiful Boulder, Colorado. This position can be remote from anywhere. However, if you are local, we have in-office days on Thursdays where we provide lunch and sometimes do happy hours, rides, and hikes together.
