To strengthen our newly setup e-Bike electronics team in Singapore who working closely with team based in Europe, we are seeking for experience and passionate Senior Optical Design Engineer that would be great if obsessed specifically with development of periheral with optical element for an electric mobility solution. In this role you will be at the forefront of simulating and collaborate with mechanical and electronics team to designing, prototyping, integrating and verifying proprietary illumination or imaging solutions

How you will make a difference:

• A strong background in optical engineering with proven design experience and concept creation of novel lighting or imaging system
• Ability to use optical simulation software to determine critical geometry characteristics of new designs and enhance these accordingly as well as carry out tolerance analysis
• Optical solution design experience such as create light pipes with an even distribution of light, while achieving certain beam angle and candela targets for the emitted light, creation of faceted reflectors to achieve required beam distribution on the roadway.

• Work with the mechanical Engineering, electronics team to develop new design concepts of lighting or imaging solution
• Work with suppliers to define, specify, and evaluate optical coating performance on prototype components and mass production products
• Assemble and evaluate prototypes – specifically optical characteristics, image quality (MTF), light polarization measurement, thermal characteristics

What do you need to win:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in optical engineering or similar course and able to demonstrate understanding of Optical Physics and first principles-based approach to problem solving
• > 8 years of professional experience in optical designs for LEDs or LED systems working in R&D organisation of consumer electronics, white goods, automotive product
• A must have experience of using any optical design software such as LightTools, Lucidshape, ZEMAX or SPEOS. LightTools or Lucidshape proficiency would be the preferences
• Singaporean or Singapore PR candidate would be priority.
• Background and familiarity with LED based illumination designs and hands-on photometric characterization
• Basic understanding of mechanical CAD as Solidworks, PTC CREO, Siemens NX would be a clear advantage for this role.
• Knowledge of JIRA/Confluence or knowledge in similar Agile Project Management tool
• Ability to multitask effectively among different projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Independent, Integrity and self-driven with a strong focus on results to ensure that the whole team succeeds in its goals.
• Excellent English skills (written and spoken)
