As part of the VF Accounting team, the Retail Accounting and Sales Audit Manager is responsible for managing and supporting the accounting and sales audit functions. This position provides financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data related to the sales audit function and provides insights on best practices by collaborating with various internal groups. This role is also key in developing associates within the department to propel the overall success of the group.

How You Will Make a Difference

  • Serve as the primary contact for sales audit and sales processing procedures.
  • Achieve financial objectives by managing monthly and year-end closing process for sales audit: analyze variances and system errors, analyze & approve account reconciliations and propose corrective actions to appropriate business partners.
  • Manage accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures. Propose opportunities for improvement in financial procedures and controls and lead the implementation.
  • Responsible for managing the financial side of numerous projects that relate to sales audit, including managing the system testing process for new marketplace transactions, integration into 3rd party financial institutions, and/or bank changes to ensure accurate financial implementation.
  • Provide superior customer service in the response/resolution of queries and questions, and network with Finance Leadership, Appleton Controllership, Retail Operations, Treasury, Retail Operations and/or Data Technology.
  • Responsible for understanding and managing industry regulations around retail accounting and sales audit, including escheatment process and PCI compliance.
  • Identify, evaluate, and develop internal controls and operational policies and ensure all activities are in compliance with company’s internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking best practices and participating in professional societies.
  • Lead the team by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees, maintaining a safe and secure environment and ensuring there are personal growth opportunities.

Skills for Success

Years of Related Professional Experience: 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, with 2+ years of leadership experience preferred.

Educational Position Requirements: A formal education and subsequent undergraduate/graduate degrees are nice to have, but we are most interested in your total experience and professional achievements.

Educational/ Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field strongly preferred.
  • Experience leading an Accounting team preferred.
  • Excellent understanding of systems – Microsoft Office, SAP & Cognos preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.

Hiring Range:

$81,600.00 USD - $102,000.00 USD annually

Incentive Potential: This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential. Specific details of the additional compensation eligibility for this position will be provided during the recruiting and interview process.
