What you will be doing:

This role will be reporting to the VP of Liquids Technology and Regulatory. The successful candidate will be responsible for guiding the technical product development of cosmetics and OTC liquids, working with both internal and external partners. This starts with the design phase, continues with the testing phase, and finally supports commercialization. In this role, you will be encouraged to manage technical execution for formula development and design, stability and safety testing, and assessment of results. The application of relevant regulatory requirements to all products is essential. This role will also lead testing to ensure both new and improved existing formulations are stable, safe for use, compliant and manufactured to the highest standards.

  • Provide basic technical formulation guidance to vendors, manufacturers, internal partners as required, in all areas related to product development and stability testing.
  • Review and ensure the reliability and validity of technical data related to formulation, process, and stability of current and developmental products.
  • Prepare and maintain all technical and regulatory documentation including formulations and product specifications.
  • Work directly with Project Managers to manage development projects from inception through first production, working with the associated outside resources to ensure adherence to agreed timetables.
  • Maintain relevant knowledge base of competitive products, vendor technologies, and advances in cosmetic science to improve our ability to deliver innovative consumer products.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with technical assets at core manufacturers.
  • Conduct technical and documentation audits of existing sites to ensure adherence to desired protocols and delivery of quality product.
  • Meet project goals and objectives while adhering to timelines including but not limited to: Formulation/specific verification, documentation ma, ingredient approvals, substitutions and issues, management and provision of all required and requested regulatory needs.

  • Ability to manage a large volume of diverse projects

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science
  • 3+ years’ experience in personal care formulation
  • Broad development skills and understanding of: Microbiological testing, process and development, and fragrance stability
  • Working knowledge of cosmetic ingredients and related functions, and regulations (non-OTC/OTC)
  • Experience working with raw material suppliers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

Preferred Qualifications:

  • QA/QC experience
