What You’ll Be Doing:

You will manage all outbound freights and compare rates to minimize freight cost. You will monitor shipments from origin to destination to ensure on-time delivery. In this role you will review customer profiles and guidelines.

Traffic Coordinator Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviews and becomes familiar with all customer profiles to ensure they are up-to-date and in compliance with all requirements
  • Compares rates and selects delivery/transportation methods to minimize cost and maximize customer satisfaction
  • Develops and maintains transportation procedures to maximize delivery efficiency
  • Monitors shipments from origin to destination and ensures on-time delivery
  • Monitors non-compliance fees to ensure products are shipped according to the customer's guidelines
  • Manages the EDI Operations report and ensures that all customers are thoroughly reviewed prior to shipping
  • Ensures that all shipments meet the customers requirements and are within the guidelines
  • Plans shipments on a daily basis
  • Allocates all orders through the Transportation Management system prior to shipping
  • Ensures the correct transportation methods are used and consolidates freights across the board
  • Works closely with Operations/Customer Service to balance the workload
  • Responsible for the daily analysis and scheduling of all pending outbound orders and trip building/consolidation of orders to ensure we are maximizing the savings on freight
  • Reviews across all organizations on opportunities to consolidate orders that drop as small package and less than truckload shipments into truckload size shipments, to reduce freight costs
  • Reviews and troubleshoots any exception orders
  • Coordinates and processes all orders that drop to the warehouse on a daily basis before handing off to the planning team
  • Reviews current orders to see if consolidation is available across organizations
  • Works closely with the operations team and planning for effective ways to process and load orders
  • Communicates with supervisors and other key personnel between shifts, as well as, within shifts
  • Supports other shifts, departmental managers and supervisors, as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements for Consideration:

  • High School Diploma or 1-2 years of experience required
  • General knowledge of warehouse management systems and inventory control practice
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills
  • Knowledge of current rate base and FSC and utilize current rates to determine the best carrier service wise along with cost for that particular lane
  • Ability to negotiate rates on daily shipments, as needed
  • Ability to derive and utilize mathematical models
  • Ability to recognize and differentiate on what services to use in shipping outbound shipments
  • Ability to mathematically calculate cubic feet in order to meet daily, weekly, and monthly distribution plan goals
  • Extensive knowledge of cubic feet to optimize the use of trailers
  • Knowledge of weight breaks and different modes of transportation
  • Extensive knowledge of TMS applications
  • Extensive customer service skills, internally and externally
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills
  • Ability to use good judgment whenever necessary to ensure all decisions are made in the best interest of operations
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. stooping, bending, and walking
  • Ability to follow the safety rules and regulations as warranted by OSHA
  • Ability to withstand warehouse settings (varying temperatures)
  • Must be able to work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
