The Customer Data & Strategy team at YETI is a centralized data strategy, reporting, and insights team made up of analysts, researchers, and data scientists. Our job is to help YETI use data, thoughtfully and deliberately, to drive decision-making and experience design.

The Research Lead, Customer Insights is responsible for identifying and communicating data insights that improve our understanding of consumer behavior. In collaboration with a cross-functional team of digital product managers, UX designers, and brand strategy leads, this role will identify business critical research priorities, design research programs and projects to meet those priorities, and then ensure full and efficient execute of those projects.

Specifically, you will design and execute small to medium sized studies with both existing customers and potential customers related to website experience, product perceptions and usage, and brand awareness and loyalty. This will include gathering requirements, writing the research plan, build / execution of the study, analysis of results, and reporting of key findings. To succeed in this role, it is essential that you are comfortable self-directing against a roadmap of work, queuing up and actively managing your workload, and communicating timing and expectations to stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Leverage expertise in the user research space to ensure we are running efficient, fit-for-purpose research studies that bring forward meaningful and actionable insights on our customers
  • Host planning sessions with digital product, customer analytics, and other groups in the org to understand research needs and priorities
  • Provide research POV and recommendations to functional areas to help ensure the research delivers meaningful results
  • Capture and organize research priorities into a rolling 3-4 month roadmap of work
  • Create clear documentation of all research plans, results, and business implications
  • Design, execute, and report on research studies efficiently and effectively
  • Stay current on emerging technologies and methodologies in the research space and make recommendations about where and how to expand our work
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, and an ability to get people excited about the learnings research can provide
  • Develop best practices for research program, including intake process for managing new requests, defining templates to manage work, and other governance relate to how research is conducted at YETI
  • Be a self-starter who can be a subject matter expert in various settings, socializing our approach to research and advocating for the work and its impact

Qualifications and Attributes:

  • At least 4 years of User Experience, Marketing and/or Design Research
  • At least 2 years of managing user research teams and/or delivering work independently
  • A growing body of work reflecting customer-centric research that delivers insights that matter
  • Demonstrated excellence in organization, time management, and execution – you know how to focus on the right things, in the right order, and you deliver work on time
  • Expertise in working with current research technologies (usertesting.com or similar tool) and relevant research methodologies (surveys, moderated studies, usability testing, A/B testing, card sorting, etc.)
  • Experience and passion for blending qualitative and quantitative data; comfort in Excel and ability to do basic data transformations and visualization (e.g., pivot tables, word clouds, bar and line graphs)
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams using Agile ways of working
  • A habit of curiosity and kindness

  • Onsite: Role requires you to be onsite full-time.
  • Hybrid: Role requires you to be located in Austin, Texas and is a mixture of onsite and remote.
  • Remote: Role is full-time remote.
