Your Job:
As the Director, Global Apparel Sourcing, you will provide strategic vision, planning and executional focus towards optimizing a source base that offers industry leading quality, on-time and in-full delivery, fair and competitive product cost, and contribution in a sustainable and compliant business mission.
You will lead the development of standards & capabilities to achieve sourcing operational excellence, while shaping the procurement’s role as a distinct source of competitive advantage for the enterprise.
You will oversee the management of quality assurance, procurement process, and strategic capacity planning from raw material to finished goods with all vendors. You will be a strong partner and advisor to the teams responsible for product development and merchandising as well as both the teams driving Brooks Sales and Operations Planning and Execution (S&OP, S&OE) regionally and globally. You will broadly influence and collaborate with business stakeholders from the product brief stage through design and development to optimize sourcing decisions or recommend new avenues to design and development leveraging sourcing advantage.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute long-term sourcing strategies across all supply tiers in collaboration with VP of Apparel and the Product team to deliver quality products, industry leading fit and margin to ensure sell thru and profitability as well as with the entire Supply Chain Operation teams to continuously improve operational performance, trade compliance and corporate responsibility
  • Continuously optimize the vendor portfolio across all tiers to improve quality, cost, service, capacity, and innovation to Brooks while identifying, evaluating, and analyzing new potential manufacturers against strategic requirements in alignment with all stakeholders.
  • Define and own the vendor qualification process, leading the identification, evaluation, selection, on or off boarding of suppliers all without disruption in quality, service, or cost
  • Build and maintain supplier relationships at the leadership level through frequent direct communication, business reviews, and co-development of strategic initiatives, managing and enforcing Vendor Compliance Guide and Factory Agreements
  • Own and lead the overall performance of Brooks’ vendors to align with Brooks’ standard and expectations in costing target, on-time and in-full service, quality, trade compliance, supply chain security and corporate social responsibility goals, developing and maintaining supplier KPIs via a supplier performance scorecard process across all tiers
  • Launch vendor performance improvement initiatives and Standard Operating Procedure where necessary to ensure flawless execution against business goals
  • Initiate and implement programs with our suppliers to improve speed-to-market, building a responsive supply chain and improving ability to react to customer demand while minimizing inventory risk and raw material risks
  • Collaborate with Brooks Market Supply Planning (MSP) to smooth order flow, ensure on-time and in full deliveries and secure capacity with our vendors partners across all tiers
  • Partner with Transportation and MSP teams to optimize lead times from/to factories
  • Lead sourcing contingency planning and risk management in anticipation of local and global risks of any disruption in supply, e.g., trade, labor, etc.
  • Partner with the Apparel Costing team to achieve optimal product total cost of ownership and maximized negotiation leverage for Brooks global apparel products, capitalizing on the global buying power through utilizing global resources, including, maximizing profitability by ensuring competitive costing execution, choosing optimal sourcing locations that offer duty relief via current and future global trade agreements as well as end to end supply chain advantage (inventory, lead-time, service, CO2 emission…)
  • Lead the development of future state sourcing strategy in collaboration with the apparel product innovation team including emerging production and advanced manufacturing technologies and evaluation of regional near-shore or on-shore production opportunities
  • Collaborate with Apparel Development and Material teams to achieve alignment and to ensure that the source base meets prototyping and development needs of the organization on a seasonal and promotional basis
  • Partner with the Trade Compliance team to anticipate change in international trade regulations that impact sourcing strategies, e.g., duties and quotas and establishing and supporting the enforcement of optimal incoterms with suppliers
  • Be a vocal and visible supporter of Brooks Sustainability Mission and Corporate Responsibility standards
  • Contribute to Brooks Supply Chain Academy, leading the development of sourcing standards & capabilities that establish and maintain fundamental operational excellence
  • Develop and build best-in-class Sourcing and Quality management systems and processes to ensure consistent execution across all vendors, driving evolution to quality assurance through six-sigma and continuous improvement processes and tools
  • Work cross functionally at all levels of the organization to ensure seasonal product life cycle strategies are effectively supported by production plans and inventory positions to align with working capital objectives and sales plans
  • Ensure effective communication by establishing information flows across the organization and vendor base to advance a clear understanding of dependent supply chain requirements and operational goals
  • Provide recommendations to S&OP groups and senior leadership team that allow for informed decision making regarding future sources of supply, manufacturing strategies, long-range capacity plans and vendor product mix optimization
  • Develop and mentor the overall sourcing team skill set to meet the challenges of an ever-increasing complex business environment and achieve best-in-class functional excellence in all areas. Foster a collaborative team to support and impact key business goals

Your Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain/operations or related field or equivalent combination of experience. MBA preferred
  • 12+ years of experience in Sourcing Operations with significant time in off-shore locations as well as in-depth exposure to technical sports apparel constructions (seamless, flat-lock seaming, fuse, circular knits, performance woven) advanced fabrication system, quality management system
  • 10+ years experience in apparel global sourcing context
  • 7+ years of team management experience – leading, coaching, mentoring
  • 5+ years of strategic leadership with demonstrated ability to build vendor partnerships, build functional sourcing excellence, lead change management across a global organization
  • Proven ability to develop and successfully execute transformational strategies in a fast-paced global consumer organization
  • High degree of analytical thinking including the creation and maintenance of analytical tools for managing sourcing decisions, product line evolution and gross margin optimization on a global level
  • Demonstrated experience in improving business processes to drive desired business results and achieve KPIs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating effective listening through concise, clear verbal and written communication
  • Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural skills that inspire and build trust resulting in effective working relationships across the company and in international locations
  • Keen attention to detail in planning, organization, and execution of tasks, while still seeing the big picture and understanding how all the pieces fit together and affect one another
  • Ability to anticipate how a decision made can affect our customers, our partners, our products, our Brand, or other departments’ operations and/or morale; “connecting the dots”

Compensation: The pay range for this position, based out of the Brooks Seattle HQ, is $162,197 - $259,536 per year. Base pay offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
