Summary:
The successful candidate will be part of DNRP’s core team of staff members responsible for engagement with private landowners, communities, municipalities, state agencies, federal agencies, and non-profit organizations on issues related to wildfire risk reduction. Additionally, this position will be one of two foresters responsible for supporting private forest land owners in their efforts to protect, manage, and enhance rural forests in King County. Key program areas include:
- Individual property and community wildfire risk reduction planning
- Private forest stewardship planning (parcels greater than 5 acres)
- Technical support and education for forestland owners in rural King County
This position will also support other DNRP forestry programs and projects. It will directly contribute to the advancement of goals identified in the County’s Clean Water Healthy Habitat Strategic Plan, the Equity and Social Justice Strategic Plan, the Strategic Climate Action Plan, the 30-Year Forest Plan, the KC Wildfire Plan, as well as strategic recommendations provided by the King County Rural Forest Commission.
