What you will be doing:

The Brand Manager will play a key role in the success of their assigned brands (Hot Tools, Revlon, Bed Head and/or Gold n Hot) reporting to the Marketing Director within the Retail Beauty segment of Helen of Troy. The Brand Manager will plan, coordinate, direct, control, and provide the leadership to achieve short-range and long-range business development objectives. The right candidate will be creative, highly organized, diligent with outstanding communication skills and analytical skills.

  • Work with Marketing Director to develop and oversee execution of category strategy and plans, including marketing plans, business plans, sales strategies, and action plans for identified targets of opportunity that clearly define objectives, goals, strategies, measures, schedules, and action assignments.

  • Stay up to date with the constantly evolving Beauty market and help to drive organizational activity to maintain market leadership and drive continuous growth.

  • Work with the Marketing Director and the Product Development Team to establish an innovation plan to fuel the future, while maintaining and optimizing the current line.

  • Develop and present basic marketing strategies (i.e. product positioning, sub branding, required features, pricing, etc.) working with Management, Sales, Industrial Design and R&D/Engineering.

  • Responsible for working with cross functional team to develop and implement a new product launch plan including sell in materials, packaging and ecommerce support materials, and a comprehensive outstanding consumer experience support plan.

  • Conduct ongoing business performance assessments to ensure each SKU is profitable, has a “reason for being” and is accurately positioned relative to other Helen of Troy products and competition in the marketplace.

  • Collaborate cross functionally to maintain brand positioning and equity across all materials including writing integrated agency briefs, drafting copy and giving direction on packaging, product detail pages, social posts, website, POP materials, coupons, videos, and DTC material.

  • Partner with Creative, Digital, and agency teams to inform playbook of consumer communication, growth marketing, digital experience and DTC ecommerce activities in support category portfolio strategies and results.

  • Using POS from key accounts as well as Nielsen, Circana, Profitero and others, monitor movement, market share, and make strategic/tactical recommendations to management on an ongoing basis.

  • Routinely conduct store checks and evaluate competitive product offerings to gain/maintain a knowledge of marketplace activities and communicate their findings and insights to the sales and management team.

  • Develop communication tools (i.e., charts/graphs) for sales, management, and customer use as needed.

  • Work with Sales to drive the best-in-class customer support and account planning. Facilitate the selling process, including retailer strategy, pricing analysis, development of power point presentations, relevant market data, samples, and artwork.

  • Develop annual sales forecast via a 3-year building block category plan and work with the Demand Planning Analyst and Sales to provide input on the ongoing product demand to ensure an accurate forecast.

  • Work with the Supply Planning Team to establish inventory coverage targets and ensure coverage targets are being maintained. Help maintain inventory levels by working with Sales to sell through excess and obsolete inventory.

  • Partner with Supply Chain, Engineering/Program Management, Quality Department, and Creative to help manage item information including product specs, part numbers, descriptions, etc.

  • Conduct market research as needed to support the category. Establish research objectives, write the research briefs, and manage internal and external resources to conduct research and communicate results as needed.

Skills needed to be successful in this role:

  • An optimistic outlook

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

  • Solid analytical skills with the ability to solve problems and develop creative solutions

  • Solid understanding of costing/pricing financial analysis and P & L management

  • Critical thinking ability but can act tactically. Able to develop creative marketing solutions and strategies based on consumer insights

  • Manage cross-functionally and across an organization

  • Strong project and time management skills, able to manage and direct multiple projects simultaneously

  • Expert at making and standing behind decisions

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS or BA in Marketing and/or Management

  • 5+ years’ experience in Brand Management, Consumer Products, Beauty, or relevant adjacent industry

  • Confirmed understanding of Brand Management/Marketing in mass and prestige retail environments

  • Experience working with and presenting to buyers at prestige and mass merchandise retailers

  • Knowledge of key brand marketing principles and ability to demonstrate creativity and strong storytelling/selling skills in decks, live presentation, etc.

  • Packaging and digital asset development experience

  • General computer skills, have solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Experience and skill in communicating ideas, strategy, and plans to executive team

  • Demonstrate accountability of assigned responsibility (ownership)

  • 20%-30% travel

  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Business Administration, specialized in Marketing or Management
