What you will be doing:

We are looking for a savvy, passionate and experienced Product Development Manager for beauty tools, who is passionate about launching new products in the beauty sector. This position will be critical, responsible for managing the daily activities of product development, evaluating, and developing new products and line extensions that fit with each brand’s portfolio, and managing the entire process from concept to launch.

They will work closely with brand marketing, sales, sourcing, operations, industrial design, and engineering as part of the product development cycle.

  • Stay current on the latest beauty industry trends, consumer, and competitor activity to be able to generate product vision backed with data to inspire and inform briefs and handle product innovation ideation.

  • Maintain strong product and brand focus keeping the customer top of mind. Manage and create new product development briefs that address consumer needs and ensure product experience. Maintain the product roadmap, keeping it always up to date.

  • Manage the daily functions of product development, driving the project forward, ensuring all product development tasks are timely, aligned to and detailed.

  • Maintain and handle timelines with key product development breakthroughs. Report out in phase reviews and dashboard meetings. Identify all project risks throughout the product development cycle while providing appropriate risk mitigation plans, resolving obstacles, recommending solutions, and providing visibility cross functionally to risks.

  • Review and evaluate submissions and advise on redirects providing specific directions to design and engineering.

  • Prepare and present projects for project/design reviews, tooling reviews, brainstorm sessions, weekly team meetings etc.

  • Manage accurate product cost estimates for project financial justification and Cog’s analysis.

  • Partner closely with industrial design and engineering on the entire product process, ensuring we meet timelines, submissions for internal and external testing, claim support and testing requirements.

  • Manage the collaboration of communication between design, engineering, and manufacturing to ensure a successful, timely product launch.

Skills needed to be successful in this role:

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and to identify when assistance is needed and seek help from appropriate parties

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to problem solve

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to switch between projects without sacrificing quality and accuracy

  • Ability to harness the team’s technical creativity and transform it into specific design solutions that meet schedule, cost, and performance goals

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 5+ years in the personal care industry within Product Development

  • Engineering - ME or EE engineering experience

  • Solid understanding of plastics, injection molding and manufacturing processes typically found in consumer appliances

  • Solid experience understanding and working with/around a complex patent environment

  • Experience with DFMA and FMEA methodology

  • Proficient with CAD, FEA, CFD, and other engineering tools

  • Familiar with appliance regulatory and testing agencies such as UL, ETL, CE, CSA, ASTM, IEC, RoHS

  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full time basis

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in PD with beauty tools
