What you will be doing:

We are looking for a savvy, passionate Manager of Product Development, Liquids who is passionate about launching new products in the beauty sector! This position will be essential handling the launch process for all new products from the innovation calendar for Helen of Troy Liquids. The ideal candidate will have a background in product development within the beauty industry, is beauty obsessed and thrives in a fast-paced, very hands-on environment with a can-do attitude and attention to detail.

  • Responsible for handling and implementing all phases of the product development process from concept to launch of liquids.

  • Stay up to date on the latest beauty industry trends, ingredients, packaging and consumer and competitor activity to be able to generate product vision backed with data to encourage and advise briefs and manage product innovation ideation.

  • Maintain strong product and brand focus keeping the customer top of mind. Manages and crafts new product development briefs that address consumer needs and ensure product experience and uniqueness are delivered upon, with the alignment of marketing on key ingredients, features, and benefits.

  • Lead all aspects of the daily functions of product development, sourcing raw materials, working directly with contract manufacturers. Review and evaluate submissions and advise on redirects providing specific directions to CM’s. Manages timing, pilot, and production to ensure product meets all requirements and is consistent throughout scaleup for final approvals and signoff’s, managing and closely supervising the schedule of manufacturing to ensure batching and fill date stay on track. Has the ability to problem solve, assess, and remove roadblocks based on any delays and challenges to ensure timely receipt of finished good approval, release, and shipping process.

  • Be responsible for the daily functions of packaging development from brief and sizing based off competitive analysis that meet the pricing target, timing, and delivery functionality. Crafts COG’s sheets for margin and MSRP analysis and alignment with marketing. Works with outside vendors, tracking on-time launches, signs off on specs.

  • Prioritizes multiple product development projects and milestones at once.

  • Handles and aligns on claim substantiation plan with marketing and R&D/regulatory/legal.

  • Works closely in collaboration across cross-functional teams (creative, sales, marketing, operations, quality, R&D, packaging and regulatory) to execute product launch strategies to ensure on-time, successful and qualitative launches.

  • Focuses on tracking the key product development achievements with updates that effect the entire timeline, elevating delays, identifies challenges, and proposes solutions. Responsible for communicating the key milestone updates as needed if/when dates change/shift.

Skills needed to be successful in this role:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to problem solve.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to switch between projects without sacrificing quality and accuracy.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Proactive and self-motivated individual with a passion for product development in beauty, staying up to date with industry trends.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant in-role experience and on-the-job education.

  • 5+ years in the personal care industry within Product Development.

  • Experience working with contract manufacturers and packaging suppliers.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and to identify when assistance is needed and seek help from appropriate parties.

  • 30-50% travel.

  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full time basis.
