Position: Special Projects Lead, Supply Chain

Department: Supply Chain

Work Location: El Paso, TX, Dallas, TX, or Edgewater, NJ - Hybrid (work 3 days onsite)

Hybrid Schedule: Helen of Troy associates enjoy the advantages and flexibility of a hybrid working model, allowing for in office 3 days minimum, and remote 2 days. Any changes to this working model would be communicated accordingly.

What you will be doing:

The Special Projects lead is responsible for handling and executing all processes related to supply planning, purchase order issuance, component planning, as well as capacity planning regarding special projects and VAS (value added services) suppliers at trusted VAS service locations and contract manufacturing partners. Will build, maintain, and execute supply planning VAS for regions, channels and customers incorporating business intelligence and forecast information gathered from sales, marketing, operations, product and retailers, and other sources. This key role will be responsible for providing the tools and expertise to bring all departments together to achieve accurate and effective planning and delivery of production and inventory strategies. As part of the broader Sourcing group, coordinates the planning and execution of special projects including all kitting, bundling, repack, Amazon skus, EMEA over-labels and ad-hoc needs.

  • Ensure all special projects are qualified and inducted into the Custom Work Order Management team timely and accurately for kitting, bundling and ad hoc needs.

  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Warehouse, and Finance teams to ensure timely delivery of special projects.

  • Review all special projects quotes for accuracy and margin targets to meet the company’s margin thresholds.

  • Validate all master data and planning attribute set-ups. Including but not limited to sourcing rules and ASL assignments. Update item number status and turn off planning flags for discontinued special project SKUs.

  • Handle special project aging inventory run through of both components and finished goods, including scrapping obsolete inventory and reporting excess.

  • Timely communicate any project delays and the cause of the delay to Sales and Marketing and offer possible solutions.

  • Ensure that all kits and finished good kit components are accurately gathered in the demand plan.

  • Handle inventory to guarantee that special projects components are warehoused at the accurate assembly site and held in reserve for use in assembly jobs

  • Order packaging components for special projects. Optimize packaging component order quantities to account for scrap needs but also to avoid excess.

  • Closely supervise kit component needs and stay in close communication with supply planning to ensure that kit component demand is met for on time assembly

  • Closely supervise all inbound components and reserve special projects' inventory on arrival or redirect arriving components to the accurate assembly site

  • Work with warehouse assembly manager to optimize kit build to meet customer sales forecast demand (resolve warehouse location for each kit build and the quantity that must be assembled by kit and date to keep the project on track)

  • Closely supervise all outstanding deliverables against the project timeline and persistently follow-up as needed and call out to resolve when appropriate to ensure on time results

  • Work with team to balance sales orders, supply orders and on-hand inventory to analyze and update Available-to-Ship (ATS) reporting as it applies to special projects (Amazon rework)

  • Participate and act as subject matter expert (SME) for strategic system initiatives as appropriate and assigned by supervisor.

Skills needed to be successful in this role:

  • Advanced presentation of data and refined reporting skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills both verbal and written

  • Demonstrated high level of autonomy and ability to self-start

  • Ability to lead multiple projects and team members

  • Business and supply chain competence and understanding

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 3+ years previous experience with inventory planning, demand and supply planning

  • Experience in supply planning, inventory management and project management

  • Strong critical thinking skills and detail orientation capabilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (advanced)

  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Consumer goods company

  • Knowledge of kitting and warehouse assembly requirements

  • Experience in cosmetics or related (FDA regulated, DG or HazMat goods) industry

  • Experience with ERP systems; Oracle and ASCP or Demantra

  • CPIM, CPM, APICS or other Supply Chain accredited certifications

  • Sales, Inventory and Operations process experience
