Position Summary

The Student Services Manager provides an essential role within the Student Services Team. Working with Student Services Director & EID specialist, this position is responsible for managing the full student enrollment process, including paperwork processing, helping students and families prepare for their course with timely communication and conducting informational interviews, updating online marketing material, and communication with basecamp and field staff. Cultural competency, an inclusive approach to interpersonal interactions, and a strengths-based perspective are essential to success in this role. Strong data management, attention to detail, and the ability to sensitively discuss confidential information with a variety of stakeholders is also required.

The successful candidate will be expected to have past training and experience in equity, inclusion, and diversity work, particularly pertaining to youth education. This position is based in the Portland Metro area and will work remotely from a home office. Participation in local team gatherings will also take place, which follow CDC guidelines for COVID masking/distancing. Compliance with our current COVID-19 Vaccination Policy is required for all NWOBS employees.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities

  • Manage registration process for all Open Enrollment programming
  • Oversee customer service for inquiries, applicants, and families
  • Screen applicants for essential medical, emotional, and behavioral eligibility requirements
  • Communicate with basecamps about enrolled participants
  • Train and oversee the Student Services team members
  • Serve as primary point of contact for Outward Bound Services Group
  • Manage Scholarship and Tuition Reduction reporting
  • Develop and build systems in Salesforce to increase efficiency, tracking, and reporting
  • Oversee invoicing process and ensure payments are made prior to course
  • Update course materials and prepare database for new enrollment seasons
  • Serve as Communications liaison between Marketing and Student Services departments

  • Cross-train other administrative staff in job tasks as needed
  • Sit at a desk or computer most of the day
  • Participate in other duties as assigned

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks successfully within tight timelines
  • Able to develop positive relationships with diverse populations of students and their support systems
  • Background and experience in youth development, education, business, non-profit management, or another related field a plus
  • Proficient in Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Google Apps, and Salesforce

Accountabilities

  • This position reports to the Student Services Director & EID Specialist

Compensation

  • This is a full-time, year-round, salaried position.
  • Salary is commensurate with experience within Northwest Outward Bound School’s annual range of $45,000 - $55,000.
  • Full-time, benefits-eligible position; benefits package includes medical, vision, and dental insurance, and paid time off.
