Position: Director, Applications Support

Department: IT

Work Location: El Paso, TX, Dallas, TX or Arlington, TN, Hybrid (work 3 days onsite)

Hybrid Schedule: Helen of Troy associates enjoy the advantages and flexibility of a hybrid working model, allowing for in office 3 days minimum, and remote 2 days. Any changes to this working model would be communicated accordingly.

What you will be doing:

The Director of Applications Support leads the support strategy, direction, implementation, configuration, end user adoption, maintenance, security, compliance, and daily operational support, for internal and/or external-facing enterprise applications. The Director, will be expected to obtain business workflow process, along with system knowledge for functional areas, such as Supply chain, accounting, sales, marketing, finance, manufacturing, and others. Interact effectively with partners, grasping both technical and business needs, to proactively adapt technology-based services and processes that support strategic objectives and tactical outcomes.

  • Partner with business leadership and other key partners globally to define review opportunities, production issues and identify/ prioritize IT projects based on predefined criteria (e.g. return on investment, productivity, compliance)
  • Provide leadership and direction to Application support team in assessing the near and long-term. Enterprise application technology and process requirements; create a roadmap for the delivery of solutions or enhancements in line with business priorities.
  • Direct multi-functional teams to assess processes and design solutions in accordance with industry-leading standard processes.
  • Provide consulting level support and guidance through key IT initiatives; proactively share knowledge of technology risks and opportunities to build competitive advantage and improve efficiency and effectiveness of all functions (Supply Chain, warehouse, Transportation, Quality, Finance, Inventory etc.)
  • Operate as the key business contact representing IT in promoting IT services and capabilities
  • Perform business needs analysis and collaborate on mapping of technical specifications
  • Create and implement function need based solution roadmaps and to ensure successful introductions across the target (organization and with customers)
  • Responsible for all aspects of project management, including ability to plan and organize intricate environments, develop and implement solutions, and report against project plans weekly/monthly including budget variance.
  • Propose, negotiate and handle IT budgets in accordance with internal procedures, ensuring the best value and quality; Continuous focus on improving cost of delivery/service
  • Plan and implement long term and short-term IT policies/ controls in line with the business/ function priorities; Work closely with global IT team to implement the corporate IT project locally.
  • Ensure robust contingency, risk management and business continuity plans are in place and that these are coordinated during all technology transition plans (enhancements / new)
  • Conduct awareness building programs for employees to facilitate knowledge enhancement and improved functional and attitudinal effectiveness towards ongoing and new tools and applications
  • Enable continuous improvement in business applications, IT Security and system performance.
  • Coach and develop IT team on standard process, guide the team to achieve team goals and objectives.
  • Be responsible for existing solutions / platform utilization, impact, benefit and resolve day to day operational issues

Skills needed to be successful in this role:

  • General understanding of infrastructure platforms and technologies, e.g. personal computers, servers, network, windows, active directory, etc.
  • Business Relationship management and partnering expertise
  • Proven track record of delivering timely and accurate results in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, mathematical skills, and sound judgment
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and passion to work within a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment
  • Proven expertise in application development and support environment with more than one technology and multiple design techniques
  • Advanced knowledge of development toolset to design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software
  • Strong understanding of financial control and budget management
  • Top-tier understanding of risk controls and compliance to departmental and company-wide standards
  • Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals
  • Very strong verbal, written, and presentation skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Operations / IT Applications
  • 10 years of directly related experience in an enterprise IT environment working with multiple teams and multiple locations
  • 6+ years of Experience in any ERP systems
  • 6+ years in a leadership capacity managing multiple teams
  • Experience selecting, integrating, and administering complex third-party systems into ERP systems.
  • Experience evaluating and solid understanding of today’s digital technology ecosystem and capabilities with a mind to enable business value and transformation
  • Flexibility to travel for up to 10% (both domestically & internationally)
  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree
  • Experience with or driving production comparison evaluations via RFPs
