Position: Associate Marketing Director, Hot Tools and Gold n’ Hot

Department: Marketing

Work Location: Boston, MA, Hybrid (work 3 days onsite)

Hybrid Schedule: Helen of Troy associates enjoy the advantages and flexibility of a hybrid working model, allowing for in office 3 days minimum, and remote 2 days. Any changes to this working model would be communicated accordingly.

What you will be doing:

The Associate Marketing Director will be responsible for overall business strategy, innovation strategy, and the go to market strategy for the business to improve sales and profits for Hot Tools and Gold n’ Hot . The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the consumer, the customer, and the competition, and turning insights into winning strategies to increase sales and share for the brand. The Marketing Director will plan, coordinate, direct, control, and provide the leadership to achieve short-range and long-range business objectives. The role reports to the Vice President of Marketing and will be supported by two direct reports.

  • Develop and supervise execution of category strategy and plans, including go-to-market commercialization plans, business plans, sales strategies, and action plans for identified targets of opportunity that clearly define objectives, goals, strategies, measures, schedules, and action assignments. Ultimate owner of consumer insights, development of product consumer segmentation, branding strategy, product positioning, retail channel strategy and overall portfolio management. Will work closely with the Product Development Team as an innovation and partner, translating the innovation plan into a multi-year roadmap of consumer-centric solutions.
  • Drive profitable growth across all categories of brands within area of responsibility, seeking opportunities to improve margin and gain market share. Collaborate with Sales to drive outstanding customer support and account planning, using sales data, insights, etc. to identify new marketplace opportunities and shopper trends to drive profitable growth. Implement business plans that leverage data to expand revenue and improve key product and brand performance, while managing overall cost.
  • Will be responsible for overall strategy brief that advises the marketing communication work, as well as the overall budget that ties back to the P&L. Will work closely with the Helen of Troy Center of Excellence team as they complete that overall brand strategy for advertising (creative and media) and public relations activity. Will provide feedback and approval on development of marketing collateral, digital assets, media campaigns and public relations materials.
  • Lead brand positioning work, architecture development, packaging design, and execution for the assigned brands. The Director will champion the renewal and refinement of the brand’s strategic positioning and architecture as needed - using deep understanding of key brand health measures, as well as a keen understanding of a constantly evolving driven, technological, retail and customer environment.
  • Build, manage, and ensure that approved budgeting for marketing expenses are driven with responsibility and ensure within fiscal requirements. This role includes Monthly Reporting / Annual Budget / OPEX responsibility.
  • Lead all aspects of development of annual sales forecasts and supervise the monthly issuance of the latest estimates to update the forecast. Working with a Demand and Supply Planning, coordinate establishment of inventory coverage targets and ensure coverage targets are being maintained.

Skills needed to be successful in this role:

  • Strong leadership skills and results oriented mentality
  • Experience in turning data into insights that drive creative marketing solutions and strategies
  • Excellent project management skills with ability to balance multiple projects at one time
  • Confirmed analytical skills with the ability to solve problems and develop creative solutions
  • Proficient in building foundation of communication messages that can be performed across digital and retail packaging
  • Experience building research plans and handling outside agencies to conduct research
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills including working with and presenting to upper management along with retailers in food/drug/prestige/mass channels
  • Demonstrate clear business results in existing or prior role that can articulate reason for consideration
  • Validated experience successful handling new product development pipeline

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field desired
  • 8+ years of validated effective omnichannel marketing experience in the consumer products/beauty arena
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience leading a team with a minimum of 1-2 direct reports
  • Manage business operations with a portfolio exceeding $70 million
  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
